Recently, I experienced one of the greatest concerts of all time—the Kingdom Tour with Maverick City Music, right here in DC. In a packed arena, believers of every walk, connected in common bond to the uncommon love we have in Jesus. In that moment, beyond the band, the stage, and lighting effects, the treasured truth emerged from within the lyrics. Completely captivated, as a dissipating fog arose, distinct voices, saturated the arena singing. “…Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God. Oh, it chases me down, fights ‘til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine. I couldn’t earn it and don’t deserve it; still, You give Yourself away. Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.”
Pause – did you get it? If not, rewind and relive it. “…Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God…oh, it chases me down, fights ‘til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine.”
I hope you hit “replay” and experience it one more time; realizing with humility how the intentional love of Jesus has not only intently pursued us, but relentlessly extends an invitation to be in relationship with others.
